Hi and welcome to

... The Department of Architecture at the University of Kaiserslautern.

As we informed you by email, here are some more details and relevant dates for the start of your studies.

We actually begin on Tuesday 4 October 2016 at 9:30 am when the University leadership officially welcomes first semester students from all departments in the sports hall, building 28.

The student body of the Department of Architecture won’t be present at this event because their welcome will take place after the opening of the introduction course.

The following week, on Wednesday 12th October 2016 at 10:00 am, the introduction course starts in the Department of Architecture, Pfaffenbergstraße 95, building 1, room 1-160.

During the introduction week we will show you basic practical drawing and model making techniques and other things worth knowing for the best possible start to your architecture degree. The introduction course will make it easier for you to get started with your degree so we hope to see a large number of students there. The tasks are not difficult and no marks are given.

In addition, the student body of the Department of Architecture is organizing various tours and evening events from 12 October 2016 to give you the opportunity to get to know the campus, the city and in particular your fellow students better.

As part of the introduction course there is a trip to Ludwigshafen /Mannheim on Friday 14 October 2016.

The introduction course finishes on Friday 21 October 2016

You will be given more exact details about the introduction course and materials needed at the opening event on 12 October 2016.

That was a brief summary. Things will fall into place with time. See you soon.

Head of introduction course

P.S.: If you want to make the most of your time before your studies start, why not do a work site placement? The 8 week work site placement must be completed by the end of the third semester. However, only placements at structural and civil engineering building companies, frame carpentry companies or similar are accepted. (Joinery companies, cabinet makers, scaffolders etc. do not count).
